Olympic cycling champion Walls is hospitalized after flying off track
Tokyo Olympic cycling track champion Matthew Walls flew off the track at the Commonwealth Games event in Birmingham, England.
There was a massive crash in the 15k scratch qualifying. Walls tried to avoid a high-speed collision, but failed to control and flew over the barrier into the grandstand with spectators.
As a result of the accident Wallace and two other riders were hospitalized. According to the British media, Walls received several stitches in his forehead and was discharged. Also a few fans were hospitalized, one of them was taken away from the stand in a wheelchair. As a result of the accident the race was stopped.Matthew Walls won Olympic gold in the omnium discipline.
He is also the silver medalist in the Tokyo 2020 Madison.
